Olympic Saturday
Watched the women's snowboard cross event last night on NBC. Was shocked to see 20 year-old American Lindsey Jacobellis about to win the race but lose it by performing a showboating maneuver on her board just seconds from the finish line. She fell into the snow as a result. She got the Silver medal after getting up off her butt but still, she had gold in her grasp and blew it! A lesson many an Olympic athlete will be talking about for years to come.
Went to work today for a few hours, followed by poker nite at Bernie's. This time I lost only $1.20 (everybody chipped in $5 each to play). I did okay, only won a few hands as usual and watched my money slowly slip from my grasp. AFterward, dinner with G in SF. Had my delicious scallop curry at On The Bridge in Japantown, then took a drive around the City.
Tomorrow have to go to work again to make up some lost hours (an Olympian feat for me these days), followed by a get together at Stephen's place in Alameda. Should be fun.
On a sidenote, the weather has been in the 30s and 40s here, and it snowed on the mountain peaks surrounding Silicon Valley! Something that happens here only once every year or two.
Been getting into JPop recently...will be buying CDs of Japanese pop singers soon!
