Happy Birthday, Mom!!

Worked a half-day today cuz it was my mom's 55th birthday! Yuh, it's official: my mom's a senior now. But she doesn't look it at all! She looks like she's in her 40s and all my friends think she's cute. For lunch, pho at Bun Bo Hue in San Jose. Then, for dinner my dad and I took my mom to Black Angus Steak Restaurant. I had the filet mignon with mushrooms and bleu cheese AND a mango margarita (points to picture on left). And to top it off, the waiter (with us only mentioning it was my mom's bday) brought us a fudge brownie with ice cream and "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate sauce for dessert! What a sweet surprise! Happy Birthday Mom!! Love ya!

Easy Sunday

Didn't do much anything today. Had to work this holiday weekend after lunch with my parents. Tomorrow work instead of the day off on President's Day.

Less than two weeks until my trip to NYC! Yippee! I hope the subfrozen weather there gets warm soon...

Olympic Saturday

Watched the women's snowboard cross event last night on NBC. Was shocked to see 20 year-old American Lindsey Jacobellis about to win the race but lose it by performing a showboating maneuver on her board just seconds from the finish line. She fell into the snow as a result. She got the Silver medal after getting up off her butt but still, she had gold in her grasp and blew it! A lesson many an Olympic athlete will be talking about for years to come.

Went to work today for a few hours, followed by poker nite at Bernie's. This time I lost only $1.20 (everybody chipped in $5 each to play). I did okay, only won a few hands as usual and watched my money slowly slip from my grasp. AFterward, dinner with G in SF. Had my delicious scallop curry at On The Bridge in Japantown, then took a drive around the City.

Tomorrow have to go to work again to make up some lost hours (an Olympian feat for me these days), followed by a get together at Stephen's place in Alameda. Should be fun.

On a sidenote, the weather has been in the 30s and 40s here, and it snowed on the mountain peaks surrounding Silicon Valley! Something that happens here only once every year or two.

Been getting into JPop recently...will be buying CDs of Japanese pop singers soon!
